Baby Landon

Meet baby Landon. He is about 1 month old and so precious. Today I got to spend time at the Dahlin's home taking pictures of him and their lovely family. Matt and Rachel are such sweet, sincere people that it was a joy to hang out with them. Below are my favs from the session. As always let me know what you think!

Photo Book Preview

I put together a photo book that will be used as a mother's day present. The cool thing about it is there are white areas left all over the book so that the kids and draw pictures and leave messages for their mom. I love this idea. I think it is personal and is a great way to display pictures. Hope you like it.

The Snake

Saturday during my photo session we encountered the biggest snake I have ever seen outside of the zoo. We were on a bridge looking down and happened to spot this creature. I had to snap a picture of it to prove how big it was. It was at least 4 feet long. And who said that being a photographer wasn't dangerous?

Now remember, I am standing on top of a bridge shooting this animal. So it is kinda far away.

I love love this family. I really have a heart for this family and their story. The beautiful children below were adopted by this amazing couple who longed to be obedient to what God was asking them to to. So along with their 3 biological children they have been blessed with these four amazing kiddos you will see from this session. The entire family of 10 just amazes me. I am so glad that I am getting to know them and I was honored to take their photos. Oh and did I mention that they are two sets of twins! So much fun!

My best friend Dawn and her daughter Isabell are in town visiting me. It has been so great having them here. It is amazing just to see the changes in little Izzy since the last time I saw her. Please allow me to introduce to you Miss Adrianne. She was a blast to photograph! We spent three hours on location, but it went by so fast. We found some really cool places to shoot and ventured to some areas that even I was surprised to find in Abilene. My hope is that these images portray at least a glimpse of Adrianne's personality. She is kind, polite, elegant, charming, and beautiful in every way. It was an honor to work with her and I can only pray that my future daughter treats people like she does.

This week was Spring Break and for the first time ever I did absolutely nothing! I am a person who likes to be busy. I am always on the go. Well the past month or so I have been feeling burnt out and exhausted. So, this week I did nothing. Well not nothing. I slept in, went to the gym, edited some pictures, watched movies. I just did whatever I felt like doing. It was so great! I do feel rested and refreshed. I guess I am ready to get back to my normal schedule. I encourage all of you to take a day or a few for yourself. It is amazing how good it feels!
Well I can't post without a picture. So here is another sneak peak of the last wedding I did. Enjoy.

Abilene Bridal Expo

Yesterday I participated in the Bridal Expo in Abilene. After three months of planning and organizing I finally got to see it all come together. I am so grateful to my wonderful friends who help me this weekend. I could not have done this without them. Thank you guys! You mean the world to me.

So let me just say that my face hurts from smiling so much, but it was worth it. It was so good to get out there and meet new people. Normally this post is just about one person, but today it's lots of people. These amazing people are the most important people in my life. They have taken care of me and loved me no matter what. Weekend Getaway

Last weekend Andy and I stayed at a the Star of Texas Bed and Breakfast in Brownwood. It was a surprise for Andy before he deployed. We had a nice time and enjoyed just relaxing. Our favorite part though was the llama. That's right! A llama! When we arrived our host told us about their art trail that we could walk on. He also warned us that they had a friendly llama that would accompany us on this hike. At first I did not think he was serious. He told us all about how to "speak" llama by blowing in his face and how sometimes this llama likes to run up behind young ladies and kiss their neck.
So the next day we begin our hike and sure enough the llama joins us! We spent quite some time blowing in his face so he would like us. I am sure it was a pretty funny site. Mr. llama followed us during the entire 1 mile trail. And sure enough, at the very end of the hike he ran up from behind me to kiss my neck. Fair warned I still did not expect this and reacted as such. Andy got a big kick out of my fear.

Bridal: Ashlee

Before I moved to Texas I had never heard of bridal sessions. This is something that Indiana brides just don't normally do. But bridals portraits are a BIG deal in Texas. So my dear friend Ashlee agreed to model for me so I could build my portfolio. We had so much fun. And let me just say that after 4 and 1/2 years of being married she still looks so good in her dress. I know I can't fit into my wedding dress any more. :)

A Confession

I must confess that for the past few weeks I have been a "broken spirit." I have lost my joy and become just plan grouchy. I have lost sight of my vision and my purpose, which has made daily tasks almost unbearable. I am so thankful though that the Lord has pointed this out to me. I know that He is the one that can renew this heart and restore my joy. So that is my prayer for me and for your. That God will renew our joy! Be encouraged! God cares about every aspect of your life, even the small things like your mood. I know that I can not change this heart, but He can. I am holding on to that truth.

Get Real

One of the main reasons I started this blog was for people to get to know me. So often I just post pictures and don't really share much about myself. Well, today I have decided to "get real" with you all. Here it goes.

A real issue for me is my health and weight! I have struggled my entire life with my weight. Ever been there? Well I am super tired of this never ending cycle of losing weight and then gaining it back. No more I say! So I have joined a gym, hired a personal trainer, and entered a biggest loser type weight loss competition. It is a 12 week competition where the winner will receive $1000.00. So I joined and even had my pictures taken in my swim suite. Yikes! But I am excited to see how my body changes. I AM GOING TO WIN THIS COMPETITION!

So I challenge you today to set goals. GET REAL with yourself. My goal this week is to not eat carbs, besides veggies, after 4pm. This comes directly from my trainer, so I will try to obey. It will be so difficult. I will let you know how it goes!

The first week of January my best friend, her husband(my cousin),and their sweet baby girl came to Abilene to visit us for a whole week. It was so great to have them here. The guys played video games while the ladies shopped. Just hanging out together meant the world to me. I hate living so far away from them. I want so much to be involved in their lives. Baby Isabell is growing up so fast and I love watching Dawn and Tim be parents. But God has really blessed our friendship and I know He will continue to do so. Some relationships were just meant to be.

So now onto some fotos before I get too emotional. We of course took advantage of this week together and got some fun shots. Here are my favs.

My Christmas Present

Look what my wonderful husband got me for Christmas!!!!!!!!!!!

Due to our busy schedule around Christmas time Andy and I did not exchange gifts. We decided to do it once we got back from vacation. Well yesterday all my presents were wrapped in wedding paper and waiting for me(they don't sell Christmas paper in January). I got several nice gifts include a cd, a movie, and car parts. Andy is really in to cars!

But I was floored to find this above picture inside one of my presents! I didn't believe it at first. I thought it was some kind of joke. But it was not. My awesome husband bought me my first MAC! I am so excited. We ordered in yesterday and it will be here soon. I can't wait to edit pictures on this machine.

Meet the Zimmerly bunch.
This family has been like a second family to me ever since high school. I have been taking their pictures since I got my first film camera my junior year. Thinking back on it, I do believe they were my first clients ever! Never anything fancy, just a couple shots of the family together.

Over Christmas back I twisted my brother's arm and convinced him to do a session with me. He really didn't want to, but he loves his big sister so much that he did not want to disappoint her. Photographing him was super fun. He cracks me up! There were times I was actually on the ground laughing so hard. He is a cool dude and I am so proud of him.

Wow. Can you believe it is 2009? Life goes by so fast. I am looking forward to this coming year. So many things I want to accomplish, places I want to go, and people I want to see. A new year is a great time for new beginnings. So start living!

My new year's resolution is to start getting out of bed earlier and making more of my morning. I hit the snooze button way too much. It is time to get up, read my bible, make breakfast, workout, and utilize the early morning hours. This will be tough for me. So help me out! Ask me how I am doing with this resolution. A little accountability really helps!

Can you believe it's that time of the year again? Christmas is only a few weeks away. This weekend I worked on a couple Christmas cards, including my own. Andy and I went out to get some images for our card. Let me just say it is tough using a tripod and trying to get a great shot. But we made it work. My desire was to embrace my new Texas home and have a "cowboy" style Christmas card. Not really sure if I accomplished that or not. What do you think? Amazing People: An amazing young man

This is Dustin. He is one of my favorite people in the world. He also happens to be my little brother.

He is by far the most amazing 15 year old I have ever meet. He has such a kind heart and loving spirit. He is the baby of my family so he has always been surrounded by adults. Most 15 year olds want their parents to leave them alone and stay out of their business. D is not like that. He loves hanging out with the family. And we love being with him. He just makes you smile. I am so thankful that the Lord blesssed us with him. He is awesome and I know that God has big plans for him.

God is really moving in Dustin's life and it is awesome to watch. My prayer for him ever since he was little was that God would reveal himself to Dustin and that Dustin would put his trust in the God alone. Reflecting on Love Affair

So it is Monday and I have had some time to think and process all that I learned at the Love Affair Workshop. This workshop was totally invaluble. I learned so much about my camera,editing,organizing,marketing,and so much more. I was also blessed by the four ladies who hosted the workshop. They are amazing photographers, but more importantly amazing women. I am honored that they would take the time to pour into the lives of other women who have a passion for photography. So a big thanks to Millie, Kelly, Davina, and Lauren! You ladies are awesome.

A couple weeks ago I had a session with my Senior Rep, Dru. She is such a happy girl who is so full of life. She plans to go into the medical field when she grows up. I have to say that she will be prefect in that profession. She is so caring and genuine. I had so much fun doing this shoot.

Hey eveyone! Just wanted to share with you all that I am having an awesome time in Cali. I have met so many great people and I am learning so much. These women are amazing and have so many great ideas.

Yesterday we did a photo shoot in groups. 7 of us ran around town with 1 model trying to get images that we were "assigned" to get. Our mentors wanted us to look for new things such as shadows,angles, small spaces, and much more. Here are some of my favs.

I am heading out tomorrow to San Diego to the Love Affair Conference. It is a photography conference put on by some of my favorite photogos. I cant wait to meet so many people who have a passion about photography. I will keep you posted on all the cool things I learn.

I have just been thinking lately how blessed I am to be married to Andy. He is such an amazing man and I am so proud of him. He has a kind heart and a fun loving personality. He can talk your ear off, but I love that. It is awesome to see God at work in his life. I thank God for him every day and I pray that God will grant me the grace to be a more Godly wife. Andy, I love you!

I know it has been forever since I have posted; life has been busy. But I got some exciting things coming up that I can't wait to share with you SOON.

Until that time comes I do have a couple shoots to post. First, meet Jo and Josh. They are dear friends of ours who are expecting their first child in January. They are coming to be great parents. Jo is such cute pregnant.

Senior Representatives for 2009

Attention High School Seniors: Renee Booe Photography is looking for Senior Reps.

What is a Senior Rep.?

A S.R. is a student chosen by Renee Booe Photography to represent us to other high school students.

What does a S.R. do?

A S.R. tells other students about RBP by passing out their own personalized business cards featuring images from their photo shoot to their friends and family. They also spread the word by posting branded images on their personal websites such as MySpace, Face book, and personal blogs. Basically, Senior Reps spread the word about RBP.

Who can be a S.R.?

Any high school senior in Abilene and the surrounding area can apply to be Senior Rep. Renee Booe Photography is looking for well-rounded, positive role models to represent us. We need a variety of students from athletes, to music lovers, to punk rockers!

Why should I apply?

Senior Reps. get lots of free stuff including: 1 free portrait session and 48 wallets (one pose)

And there is more! For every 2 students you refer to RBP who book a session you will receive more free stuff! If 10 students you refer book sessions you will then receive another free portrait session! That means you will have a fall and a spring session entirely free.

How do I apply?

To apply you need to do the following:

1. Contact RBP by emailing us at r_casper_01@yahoo.com

2. In your email let us know that you are interesting in apply to be a S.R. We will send you an application that you need to fill out. This application will be sent as an attachment unless you specify that you need a hard copy mailed to you.

3. Fill out the application using Word and email it back as an attachment. You may print it and mail it in to the address below.

Sports: Cooper vs Abilene

So before moving to Texas I had heard that Texas high school football was kinda a big deal. Well, I had no idea how true that really was! High school football is a HUGE DEAL in Texas, especially rivalry games.
Last Friday night was the Cooper/Abilene High game and I truly believe the entire town was there.
Thanks to my favorite coach I was able to take pictures from the sidelines. It was such an exciting game and the Cougars played their hearts out! Here are some of the shots from that great game. I hope that these images can portray the extravaganza that is TEXAS HIGH SCHOOL FOOTBALL!

Busy, busy, busy! I just got back to Texas from visiting my family in Indiana and all I have done is edit pictures. I love doing it though, so I don't even notice that hours have gone by since I have looked away from my computer. I get lost in screen.
My recent conflict I have found is editing. I am trying to figure out my style and then stay true to that. But I also like trying new things. It's a pickle.

So below are some of my favs from a session I did of my dear friend Laurel and her husband Zach. Laurel and I have been friends since middle school, but this was my first time photographing her. She is so cute and I am so happy that she has found such a great guy to share her life with. Enjoy these shots and let me know what you think!

Kids: Ian and Hannah

Meet Hannah and Ian. Today we went out to shoot for the forth year in a row and even braved a thunderstorm. You should have seen us run after the loudest thunder crash I have ever heard. But after a little driving we out ran the rain and got some great photos. They are such sweet kids and it has been fun watching them grow up!

Having a baby

So most of you know that I live in Texas, but I am from Indiana. Well, I have been spending my summer vacation back home in Indiana with my family. One of the most exciting things about coming home was being able to see my best friend Dawn. She is pregnant and due in August. Upon returning home in June I had not seen here since December. Let's just say a lot changes in 6 months, especially when you are prego. I was in shock when I saw her for the first time. She is beautiful pregnant. She is one of those women who look like they have a basketball under their shirt, but no weight gain anywhere else. I am jealous:)

So we took this picture below to see how long it would be until our bellies touched. She is my skinny friend, so it was a fun game for me. Well, so I thought. It is not fun when your pregnant friend weighs the same as you, and your not pregnant. HAHA. I am only teasing. I love her and her prego belly. I put my hands on her stomach for hours, literally, and play with the baby. It moves and kicks so much. He/she(they don't know the sex of the baby) loves her aunt nay nay, or he/she is really annoyed by her. I prefer the first scenario. I cant wait to be an AUNTIE~

Last weekend I had the privilege of photographing Matt and Spring's wedding. They got married in my home town of Terre Haute on a beautiful Indiana day.
This couple is so much fun and so full of life. We had a blast taking pictures before the ceremony. I especially enjoyed hanging out with the bridesmaids; three out of four of them are sisters of the bride. They have such a charismatic relationship! And as far as Matt and Spring, they are adorable together! This is a large post, but I could not help myself.

New England Vacation

Yesterday my mom, 2 aunts, 2nd cousin, 2nd mom, and brother all piled into a mini van to embark on a 10 day journey thru the New England states. This has been a dream of my mom's for as long as I can remember. I am so glad she is finally making that dream a reality.

We have lived in Abilene for almost a year now and we have really enjoyed it so far. One of the best things about this city is the wonderful people we have met here. Its official: I successfully finished my first year as a teacher! It was a hectic year, but I am so grateful for the opportunity and I know each year will get easier. Now I am looking forward to a restful summer full of fun, family, and photography.

Office Furniture!

For a while now Andy and I have been looking all over Abilene in search for office furniture, but nothing really grabbed our attendtion. So we decided to venture to the great land of IKEA to see if there was anything there. Andy was skeptical, but after 5 minutes in the store he was more excited than I was ! After 7 hours of driving back and forth to IKEA due to items being out of stock, it's on the north side of Dallas, we finally have a furnished office. It still needs decor, our theme is going to be movie posters, but we both love having our on workspace!

Meet Kristen

Yesterday I had so much fun hanging out with Kristen. She is a georgous girl and a beautiful women of God. She is a junior at ACU studying elementary education.
I actually met Kristen in the ladies room at church. From a photographer standpoint I had noticed her at a previous church event and was blown away by her amazing look. So when I ran into her in the restroom I had to comment on her beauty. From there we got to talking and she agreed to let me photograph her. I am so thankful she did. She is an amazing gal!

Hello everyone! How's it going? I have not blogged for quite some time and I must say I am excited to get back to it. But my time away has been amazing. I have experienced the presence of God like never before and I am super pumped about growing deeper in my faith and getting to know my Savior in an authentic way. God is so good and he truely desires all of us to draw near to him. I encourage you to seek that out. Ask God to reveal himself to you, then step back and brace yourself. You are in for an exciting ride! The God of all creation wants to speak to YOU!

21 Day Fast

Starting tomorrow I will be participating in a 21 day church wide fast. I have chosen to fast from the internet. Yikes! I will be using this time to really get into God's word. It will be a struggle to not post new blogs or check out what's going on with everyone else. But God will give me the strength to substain and I pray that He will be glorified.

I am ready to "suffer" and give up the pleasures of this world to see what God has in store for me. Please don't abandon my blog completely. I will be back in three weeks! God Bless.

A sad day: Let's talk lenses!

Today I had to say goodbye to the Nikon 17-55mm 2.8 that I rented. I must say that I loved shooting with it and hope to one day buy it. Do any of you out there own this lens? I would love to hear your opinions on it or any other great lenses. I just own the lens that came with my Nikon D70s. I am looking to purchase a better quality all purpose lens.

For you cannon owners, what is your favorite lens?

Back from vacation

Weekend Get Away

So I know it has been forever since I last posted and I have so much to share with you all. I have been busy doing nothing, just spending time with my husband who recently got back for deployment. The past couple weeks have been amazing!

Last weekend Andy and I took a trip to this adorable German town call Fredricksburg. We stayed in our own private cottage/bed and breakfast, which was very charming and romantic. During the day we went shopping downtown and ofcourse made stops for some photo ops. We spent one evening at a winery and the next day outdoors at Enchanted Rock(pictures to come). It was so great to be able to steal a weekend away with the love of my life.

My amazing husband returned home on Wednesday after several months of being deployed. Yeah! I am so glad to have him back.

Family and friends gathered at the Air Force base to welcome home all the soliders. It was like stepping into a movie: children holding signs, husbands with flowers, wives with balloons. It was so moving to watch loved ones reunite.

For a photographer's standpoint, lighting was horrible. The sun was so bright and I struggled with my exposure. So these are not my best pictures. But I wanted to try to capture the emotion of the day. I hope you enjoy them.

Sharing My Song

I am not a risk-taker if the result possibly leads to rejection. I am afraid of being rejected. However, lately God has been speaking to me about pursuing the dreams and desires that he has given me. He is teaching me to trust in him alone and to not rely on my own abilities; for on my own I can do nothing. So with that said I am stepping out of my comfort zone and posting a song that I wrote. My heart’s desire is to write music and lead people in worship. If I could do anything in life that is what I would do.

I love music. I love singing and praising God through song. I play guitar very poorly, only to acompany myself. I have written a few songs which I believe God has given to me. I am very guarded about the music that I write because it is so personal. However, I want to be real and share my heart with you. Therefore I have posted a song that I wrote a couple years ago for my best friend's wedding. Please note that my friend and I recorded this at church one night so it is a very "rough draft."

I did not know exactly how to post the song by itself so I made a slide show to go along with it. The slide show contains pictures of my husband and I from the years gone by. Now you will really get to see my heart by hearing my music and seeing the wonderful memories I have shared with the man I love. We have been together for over 8 years, so just a warning that some of these pictures are old and just plan funny.

FYI, Andy comes home from deployment in a couple weeks. I am counting down the days!

A mile stone!

I love to workout, but getting motivated to actually go to the gym has been a struggle for me lately. So I had to share my workout victory with you. I lifted upper body today and planned on running two miles afterwards. I have been slacking lately, so I have to build back up again. So after lifting I jump on the treadmill and start my run. And guess what? I ran 3 miles! YEAH. I am just pumped to have set a goal and go even beyond that.

So I captured my victory with pictures of my shoes. I was playing with editiing and I would love you to leave a comment on which you like best.

Now off to watch "The Biggest Loser." I love that show. It makes me cry ever time. I have struggled with my weight my entire life, so I can relate to those people. I love to watch people succeed!

Wow! Taking pictures of moving athletes is a difficult task. I am pretty sure my lens really limits me, not to blame equipment though. I could use all the advice on sports pictures that you all are willing to share. I know these shots are not super, but I took them for my students. I hope they at least enjoy them. There are more that I will post later. And for my students, I will also hang some on my classroom door for you all. Go Cougars!
